7 Trends about Motorsports Clothing

Motorsports clothing

The motorsports clothing trends have always been more focused on improving the safety of the rider. That is why to improve safety, many countries mandate the wearing of protective clothing, protective gear, and helmets. The clothing includes a certain type of jacket, boots, gloves, pants, knee and elbow caps.

The fabrics used for motorsports are usually made from leather or man-made fabrics like Cordura or Kevlar. The jackets and pants have heavy padding on the elbows, shoulder region, spine, and knees.  Gloves are generally made from leather, Cordura fabric or Kevlar and some may include carbon fiber for knuckle protection. This protection, except helmets, are not mandatory or required by law to be worn, but are recommended by many of those who ride.

Here are 7 trends in motorsports clothing:

1. Fabrics

Whenever one discusses trendy clothes, you just cannot ignore the importance of the fabrics being used. During the early days, leathers were used in crafting the protective clothing used by the motorsports riders. The leather used was not fashion leather but protective leather, which is thicker, stronger and more flexible.

    2. Armour

Armours are built inside the suits or jackets at major impact regions such as shoulders, elbows, knees, hips and the back. They are built with shock absorbing material constructed from high-density foam, polymers, carbon fibers, and other materials. Separate armors are also available, if necessary, especially for the chest, neck, and back which can be worn under other clothing items.

    3. Textiles

Textiles are an alternative form of leather fabric and are man-made. They offer improved protection from heat, cold and water. These products provide increased functionality in terms of pockets and vents. Materials like Kevlar, ballistic nylon or Cordura, Lycra and waterproof liners such as Gore-Tex falls under this category.

4. Boots

While competing in motorsports, boots are one of the most important forms of protective outfits. They prevent or reduce harm in the event of a crash. They are tough, strong, flexible and are made out of burst, tear and impact resistant materials. The boots are fitted with oil-resistant materials, rubber-based composite soles and also have impact absorbers and load spreaders on the shin areas.

    5. Helmets

Helmets are not only trendy but also mandatory while riding. It is a protective gear used by the riders to protect the rider’s head during an impact. The helmets are crafted with two layers: hard, sturdy and shock-absorbing. The hard-outer shell is made out of hard plastics and premium price helmets are made of fiberglass reinforced with Kevlar or Carbon fiber. The inner shock absorbing layer is often out of polystyrene foam which absorbs the spreading impact so a lesser amount of energy is spread to the skull and brain. The types of helmets trending are flip-face, open-face and full-face.

    6. Goggles

Goggles are used by the riders during motorsports. They protect the riders from dust, wind, and debris. They feature anti-fog treatment and protection against UV rays. The goggles include a foam rim which seals against the face and layered, tinted lenses to accommodate varying light conditions. The Goggles are typically used by riders who use open face helmets and dirt bike riders.

     7. Gloves

Gloves are used to protect the hands of a rider from the cold, sunburn and in case of accidents. The motorcyclists’ gloves typically have reinforced palms to protect the rider from abrasion injuries in case of accidents. The premium features include additional protection or weatherproofing and carbon fibers or hardened plastic on the knuckle areas.

Winter Sportswear and TeamWear

winter sportswear and teamwear

Outdoor activities suddenly don't stop because it’s cold outside. Engaging in outdoor sports and team activities in winter can seem baffling and uncomfortable. With low temperature and cold winds, the season has its cons, but you can’t hide inside in comfort all winter. So, the best idea is to engage in winter sports with the right gear that will protect you from the cold weather.
Don’t hold yourself back just because of the cold. Here is our collection of winter sportswear and teamwear to keep you toasty and dry during your winter workout.

1. Layer up

Layering is a basic concept when it comes to winter wear. The fabric needs to trap the heat inside your body and also absorb the sweat so you can stay warm when the temperature starts to drop. We all know days are shorter in winter and it gets dark outside early so reflective details are very important to help you remain visible during the evening and early morning.

A windproof and waterproof jacket up top is the best combination that goes with the wicking layer to beat the cold. It is very important to have a base layer, mid-layer, and a jacket up top for ultimate protection.

2. Pants

winter sportswear
If you can’t run without pants in winter even with other alternatives available, choose something with a heavy thermal fabric. However you can’t wear pants in every sport, and if you prefer shorts consider wearing a pair of wind-resistant tight thermal leggings.

For women, light fitness apparel fabric can be comfortable and useful. It will keep you warm without adding bulk to weigh you down.

3. Gloves

People usually ignore gloves when they participate in sports. But remember the heat flow rate is higher in hands and fingertips than other parts of the body. Unisex gloves made up of weather-resistant fleece will keep your hands warm and dry. They will save you from frequently having cold hands during long winter runs. And with built-in touch capability, you won’t have a problem using your phone.

4. Socks

As with hands, feet are also a major escape point for heat to get out. So proper sports socks are necessary. Not wearing one means you will regret it if you happen to run into snow during your winter activities. A no-itch, moisture absorbing fabric is preferred as they keep your feet dry and comfortable.
For team sportswear, long matching fleecy socks are preferred as they protect you even when wearing shorts.

5. Footwear

Proper footwear is essential for sports, even more so in winter. You will need the right shoes to run through snow and ice. Be prepared for slippery and muddy trails and surfaces wearing shoes with good traction. Make sure your sports footwear is comfortable and made of extra tough and water resistant fabric.

6. Headwear

You don’t have to sacrifice your warmth or your favorite playlist anymore. Grab a fleece ear warmer integrated with headphone. Don’t forget to cover your face if the weather is too harsh on your skin.

Stay warm, active and never miss a run with our winter sportswear and team wear collection. Browse through gallery and suppliers list of Spida Sports. For more information and to place an order call us at 1300 864 755 or email us

Sportswear Trends For 2017

May it be “Back to the Future’s” self-drying jacket or self-tying shoes, sportswear is the next huge revenue generator in the world of clothing. From oversized sweatshirts to crop tops, from casual wears too tight yoga pants, these are the things that will define the fashion trends for 2017. And the apparel companies are seen bowing down to the demand of the public, and they mean business as they are ready to unveil their summer collection.

As said earlier, sportswear is the next fashion trend as far clothing lines are concerned. Sportswear or Activewear as some call it, the sector has seen massive growth over the past few years. It has moved out of the gyms onto the streets and turned itself into a fashion giant, and we all love it. Apparel companies, celebrities and even fast food chains continued to expand into sportswear in 2016 and it doesn’t seem they are stopping anytime soon. Although top brands like Nike, Adidas, Puma and Underarmour still remain in the driving seat. Here we provide you with the top trends that will following 2017.

1. Sweat Friendly Bomber Jackets

Bomber Jackets

Do you remember those silk bomber jackets trending in 2016? Yes, we believe those sweat-friendly jackets will eat up the sportswear market for coming years as they match flawlessly with men’s tracks and women’s leggings. The trend has picked up its pace across sportswear brands and casual wear whether you are sprinting on the sidewalk or on your way to the next meeting.

2. Joggers Pants

Trendy, fashionable, casual and sporty- all define the jogger's pant. Alternative to those tight yoga pants and long over flapped tracks that irritate you while working out, joggers pants are the best fit. Whether you are working out, sprinting or doing yoga, the comfort that you feel in these pants don’t disappoint. With its popularity rising, we feel we have yet to see its best season as the sportswear companies readying themselves for the next summer.

3. Harem Pants

A blend between “hammer pants” and traditional Indian sari pants, its usability has gone up to yoga, travelling or cosying up at home. With great designs and versatile pocket feature the harem pants are super comfy, you might not want to take them off.

4. Oversized Sweatshirt

Sportswear has become more of a fashion trend than a workout clothing. People’s selective nature and their need to look trendy has brought upon many fashion choices, and now it has come to the oversized sweatshirts.
The trend started at the end of 2016 and its sale has rocketed up high. A number of brands are coming out with their own version of oversized sweatshirts suitable for sports and workouts.

5. Camouflage Prints

We all thought it was gone for good but just like bomber jackets, it won’t budge off. Camouflage prints have been in fashion for ages and it has contested with lots of other trends and lived to see the day. It's one of the fashion trends we still love and remains always in trend no matter what.

6. Customised prints and embroideries

Customisation and embroideries are a big part of a trend when it comes to owning a pair of sportswear in your wardrobe. May it be your favorite sports club’s shirt or your gym club’s track or your own signature name on the back, it is a necessity.

Trends come and go throughout the season but our love for sports remain the same. With that motto, we at Spida Sports supply high quality and branded sports and active wears for you, according to your comfort and fashion. We would love to hear from you, contact us via email or via phone at 1300 864 755.
