7 Trends about Motorsports Clothing

Motorsports clothing

The motorsports clothing trends have always been more focused on improving the safety of the rider. That is why to improve safety, many countries mandate the wearing of protective clothing, protective gear, and helmets. The clothing includes a certain type of jacket, boots, gloves, pants, knee and elbow caps.

The fabrics used for motorsports are usually made from leather or man-made fabrics like Cordura or Kevlar. The jackets and pants have heavy padding on the elbows, shoulder region, spine, and knees.  Gloves are generally made from leather, Cordura fabric or Kevlar and some may include carbon fiber for knuckle protection. This protection, except helmets, are not mandatory or required by law to be worn, but are recommended by many of those who ride.

Here are 7 trends in motorsports clothing:

1. Fabrics

Whenever one discusses trendy clothes, you just cannot ignore the importance of the fabrics being used. During the early days, leathers were used in crafting the protective clothing used by the motorsports riders. The leather used was not fashion leather but protective leather, which is thicker, stronger and more flexible.

    2. Armour

Armours are built inside the suits or jackets at major impact regions such as shoulders, elbows, knees, hips and the back. They are built with shock absorbing material constructed from high-density foam, polymers, carbon fibers, and other materials. Separate armors are also available, if necessary, especially for the chest, neck, and back which can be worn under other clothing items.

    3. Textiles

Textiles are an alternative form of leather fabric and are man-made. They offer improved protection from heat, cold and water. These products provide increased functionality in terms of pockets and vents. Materials like Kevlar, ballistic nylon or Cordura, Lycra and waterproof liners such as Gore-Tex falls under this category.

4. Boots

While competing in motorsports, boots are one of the most important forms of protective outfits. They prevent or reduce harm in the event of a crash. They are tough, strong, flexible and are made out of burst, tear and impact resistant materials. The boots are fitted with oil-resistant materials, rubber-based composite soles and also have impact absorbers and load spreaders on the shin areas.

    5. Helmets

Helmets are not only trendy but also mandatory while riding. It is a protective gear used by the riders to protect the rider’s head during an impact. The helmets are crafted with two layers: hard, sturdy and shock-absorbing. The hard-outer shell is made out of hard plastics and premium price helmets are made of fiberglass reinforced with Kevlar or Carbon fiber. The inner shock absorbing layer is often out of polystyrene foam which absorbs the spreading impact so a lesser amount of energy is spread to the skull and brain. The types of helmets trending are flip-face, open-face and full-face.

    6. Goggles

Goggles are used by the riders during motorsports. They protect the riders from dust, wind, and debris. They feature anti-fog treatment and protection against UV rays. The goggles include a foam rim which seals against the face and layered, tinted lenses to accommodate varying light conditions. The Goggles are typically used by riders who use open face helmets and dirt bike riders.

     7. Gloves

Gloves are used to protect the hands of a rider from the cold, sunburn and in case of accidents. The motorcyclists’ gloves typically have reinforced palms to protect the rider from abrasion injuries in case of accidents. The premium features include additional protection or weatherproofing and carbon fibers or hardened plastic on the knuckle areas.

Father’s Day gift of the year – Jerseys

jersey- father's day gift of the year

Father’s Day is here and we are all excited about it. On this day, we celebrate our father and their love for us. From taking him on a traditional picnic to pampering him at the spa, there are lots of ways to show our love and appreciation for all the things he has done for us and more.

Many of us have already chosen a gift for our superhero while some of us are still in dilemma on what to get for him this year’s Father’s Day.That’s why we bring you the perfect gift for him - JERSEYS.

Jersey, it seems simple and inexpensive but the meaning it holds is far more valuable. A sports team jersey is what defines a team, the player wearing it and the club it belongs to. For any sports loving dad, his favorite club’s jersey would mean a lot to him. And it comes as a gift from his beloved children, it would mean the world to him.

10 Rules to Wearing Football Jerseys

10 Rules to Wearing Football Jerseys

You are a die-hard football fan and you play hard. It's time to throw around the pigskin, make some tackles and perfect your team's touchdown strategy. Wearing football jerseys shows you are on top of the game. The point of wearing the jersey is to support your team, and there are certain rules when wearing football jerseys to a sporting event. What are they? Let’s find out.

1. Wear a jersey that fits and comforts you

The important part of dressing up for football is to give yourself the freedom of movement so that you can play freely without having to think about your clothes too much. And most jerseys are not flattering on most body types, so you should know what size you wear. You make it worse when you go too big or too small size jerseys. If you have no choice, you can go one size above, but only if it's the jersey of a sport that would typically involve shoulder pads.

2. Always wear a sleeved t-shirt under your jersey

Many people wear the jersey as tank tops in summer. Don’t be one of them. Wear a sleeved t-shirt underneath the jersey. Wearing different types and colors of t-shirts with full sleeve under your jersey is considered acceptable. Jackets and warm-up shirts should not be worn over the jersey as they hide what team you are on and is considered cheating.

3. Don’t wear a personalised jersey

Just pick the star player or a legend, someone you look up to and is your favorite player which shows your respect and support instead of having a jersey lettered and numbered after you.

4. Wear the team-colored jersey

Especially for the ladies, no pink jerseys. If you are proud of your team, you should be proud of their colors. So, get yourself a real jersey and not the alternate version or fashion jerseys. Also, wearing a jersey with a designer that is a big no-no

5. Never wear a jersey of a team that isn't playing in the game you are attending

Can I go to a game where I have no interest in the teams playing? Sure, if you love the sport, just don't wear a jersey of the team who isn’t playing in the said game. If you do, it reflects disrespect for the teams playing. So attend the game wearing clothes in neutral colors. This way you can show up at any game and nobody will criticise you for it.

6. Do not wear a jersey with the same player name and number as your friends

When attending a game as a group, avoid the jersey with a player’s name and number which your friend is already wearing. If you do, you guys may look a bit silly sitting in your group with identical jerseys. Unless it is intentional and all of you want to show solidarity for the particular player.

7. Know the right time to wear jersey

There is a right time and place to wear jerseys. Kids could wear a jersey to school every day. And you are not one. Hopefully, you have learned the art of timing. While going to a concert, it's cool to wear the band’s t-shirt. However, you will look a bit out of place if you wear the jersey to work, social gatherings not related to the concert or even in the gym. And it’s the same with sports jerseys. So to help you out, here is the perfect time to wear a jersey.

Specifically for a sporting event party
Outdoor events/ festivals
At your own home
Halloween
If your workplace decides to have a jersey themed day for fun

8. Wear shorts

Always wear shorts made of lightweight material with an elastic waist. It’s much easier and comfortable to move around in a fast-paced game. Often a player's number is printed on the shorts but is not compulsory. One piece suits are not allowed while playing the game. However, a goalkeeper can wear long pants with padded hips.

9. Shoe matter

Pick the right shoes for your comfort and functionality. Check with your fellow players to decide on what kind of shoe is appropriate for the game. Football involves kicking a ball, so you should wear running shoes or cleats. But if you decide to play wearing sandals or barefoot, you will end up hurting your feet. Also, choose cleats without metal spikes or front toe spikes so as not to injure another player.

10. Wear your hair in a ponytail if it goes past your shoulders

Long hair can be a nuisance while playing the game. So, put your hair in a ponytail to make things easier. Use headbands or hair bands to hold hair from falling on your face.

Hope these 10 rules help you in making smarter use of your beloved jersey. Be on point wearing your favourite jersey at the games. For sports jerseys and custom made sports shirts, contact Spida Sports. Call 1300 864 755 or email at info@spidasports.com.au

Winter Sportswear and TeamWear

winter sportswear and teamwear

Outdoor activities suddenly don't stop because it’s cold outside. Engaging in outdoor sports and team activities in winter can seem baffling and uncomfortable. With low temperature and cold winds, the season has its cons, but you can’t hide inside in comfort all winter. So, the best idea is to engage in winter sports with the right gear that will protect you from the cold weather.
Don’t hold yourself back just because of the cold. Here is our collection of winter sportswear and teamwear to keep you toasty and dry during your winter workout.

1. Layer up

Layering is a basic concept when it comes to winter wear. The fabric needs to trap the heat inside your body and also absorb the sweat so you can stay warm when the temperature starts to drop. We all know days are shorter in winter and it gets dark outside early so reflective details are very important to help you remain visible during the evening and early morning.

A windproof and waterproof jacket up top is the best combination that goes with the wicking layer to beat the cold. It is very important to have a base layer, mid-layer, and a jacket up top for ultimate protection.

2. Pants

winter sportswear
If you can’t run without pants in winter even with other alternatives available, choose something with a heavy thermal fabric. However you can’t wear pants in every sport, and if you prefer shorts consider wearing a pair of wind-resistant tight thermal leggings.

For women, light fitness apparel fabric can be comfortable and useful. It will keep you warm without adding bulk to weigh you down.

3. Gloves

People usually ignore gloves when they participate in sports. But remember the heat flow rate is higher in hands and fingertips than other parts of the body. Unisex gloves made up of weather-resistant fleece will keep your hands warm and dry. They will save you from frequently having cold hands during long winter runs. And with built-in touch capability, you won’t have a problem using your phone.

4. Socks

As with hands, feet are also a major escape point for heat to get out. So proper sports socks are necessary. Not wearing one means you will regret it if you happen to run into snow during your winter activities. A no-itch, moisture absorbing fabric is preferred as they keep your feet dry and comfortable.
For team sportswear, long matching fleecy socks are preferred as they protect you even when wearing shorts.

5. Footwear

Proper footwear is essential for sports, even more so in winter. You will need the right shoes to run through snow and ice. Be prepared for slippery and muddy trails and surfaces wearing shoes with good traction. Make sure your sports footwear is comfortable and made of extra tough and water resistant fabric.

6. Headwear

You don’t have to sacrifice your warmth or your favorite playlist anymore. Grab a fleece ear warmer integrated with headphone. Don’t forget to cover your face if the weather is too harsh on your skin.

Stay warm, active and never miss a run with our winter sportswear and team wear collection. Browse through gallery and suppliers list of Spida Sports. For more information and to place an order call us at 1300 864 755 or email us

Do's and Don'ts of Team Wear That You Need to Know

importance of teamwear

Team wear is what defines a team, it gives a sense of unity and fearlessness a team possess. Imagine your team’s bus pulling up to the stadium for a huge game. As the player’s get off of the coaches, you notice everyone is dressed differently, in their own individual style of clothing. How do you feel? Now imagine opponent’s team bus pulls off and the players get off the bus, you notice everyone is dressed in their team gear or matching suits. What’s your first impression?

Team gears and apparels are the first things we all notice, it is what differentiates a team from a bunch of people. Proper team color and gears are what gives fans something to cheer about and many people don’t realise it but team’s athletic gear says a lot about a team and has a lot of effect on its supporters. While accessories like headbands, shoe color may not match especially in football, as everyone has their own choice. When a team doesn’t match, they give off an air of unprofessionalism and that translates to lack of cohesiveness, as well as lack of respect from opponents.

As for the fans and supporters, their team’s jersey and gear mean a lot as they take a lot of pride in owning one and wearing it proud and loud. It’s simple to change how others view you and your team and as well how you and your team feel about yourself. Here are 8 do’s and don’ts considering you need to consider when it comes to team gears.

1. Do make sure your players match

Uniformity is major tagline when it comes to the team. Whether it is formal dressing or any training session, it is important that your player’s dresses match and your team looks like a team on and off the field. Setting a primary color and primary dress code is very important. This move can go a long way to make your team look like a cohesive unit.

2. Do Give your team a competitive advantage

When everyone’s dresses in the team matches, it increases everyone’s self-esteem which is a major factor when it comes to performance and boost in confidence is an easy way to get the most out of the players. Matching gears helps the team members to feel attached to one another and effectively increases confidence and improves the team’s moral and psychologically enhance athletic performance.

3. Don’t-let your team look unprepared

When a team goes for an away game wearing mismatched gears and jersey, it makes them look unprepared and detached from one another. The unpreparedness of a team can boost the opponent’s morale. Set the standard as soon as you get to the opponent’s facility and let your players carry that attitude to the field.

4. Don’t-ignore the details

Every single thing is important when it comes to the team. Even small details like sock’s hoops color, shoelaces’ color can make one player seem out of place. While small details are easy to overlook but these are the things that unify a team. When even a small details match like gloves, logo on the chest, they make a significant impression on the opposing team.
Apparently, these are the rules when it comes to the team, but there are separate rules when it comes to fans and supporters. As a sports fanatic myself, do’s and don’ts apply to every own donning the gear.

5. Don’t-let your shirt touch the ground

Team shirt and jerseys’ are the pride of a team. It is embodied with the club’s crest and putting it down to the ground is like you are disrespecting your team, clubs and fans. This rule applies to both team members and supporters.

6. Do-Wear the home colors at the home game

Every sports team has home and away colors. If you are going to a home game, always wear a home color shirt, it provides a feeling of connection that you are close to other supporters. For example, let’s take the famous group of supporters of Borussia Dortmund, their main stand of Westfalenstadion is called a Yellow wall. The reason is that their hoe color is yellow and the supporters all wear that yellow home shirt and that powers up the team’s confidence and attitude.

7. Don’t-wear a team’s jersey when a team is not playing

This is a talk of common sense, why would you wear a team’s shirt to a game when they are not playing? You will be abused by the opponent’s supporter plus you would be an outcast in the stand and you would the content of laughter.

8. Don’t wear your rivals team gear

“You can change your wife, your politics, your religion, but never, never can you change your favorite football team.” (Eric Cantona, Manchester United) Like the quote states, you should never ever wear a rival’s shirt, it’s just wrong. Team loyalty comes first of anything.
